Barbie Hinds - NYS licensed Optician

Barbie Hinds, a NYS licensed Optician, has practiced in the optical field for the last 30 years. She is a proud member of the New York Society of Opticians and has served as the regional director. She started in retail establishments, and had the pleasure of being trained by some of the best Opticians in our area. This has given her a very knowledgeable background, including lens fabrication, frame selections, and eye-wear dispensing. She decided to work at Albany Eye Associates because she enjoys educating patients and assisting them with their choices in eye-wear.

There is a wealth of new technology available to help with patients' needs and she will spend the time necessary to explain their benefits. This will help in making more informed decisions about what is right for you. She truly enjoys her work and would love for you to stop in to the Optical Shop and see all that she has to offer.

Contact Lenses

We offer the best and latest in contact lenses, from disposables to gas permeable lenses, silicone hydrogel lenses that are healthier, less dry, and more comfortable, to lenses that correct astigmatism, and even bifocal contacts for those who need help with reading vision. If you would like to make your brown eyes blue, we can do that too. Our experienced Contact Lens Technician is educated in all aspects of contact lenses, and can assist even the hardest to fit patient. We at Albany Eye Associates understand the importance of the best contact lens fitting, because that is what our patients deserve, the best in quality care. Our staff strives to provide the highest level of patient care with honesty and friendliness, in a professional and cost effective environment. Our focus is providing the latest in all advancements technologically, to enhance the vision of our patients. Satisfaction is very important as it is throughout our whole practice. Dr. Goldberg earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the State of New York College of Optometry in 2010. She completed her residency in ocular disease and primary care at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare system in 2011. Dr. Goldberg practices full scope optometry including diagnosing and treating diseases, routine care, and refraction and contact lens examinations.

She has experience that includes but is not limited to the evaluation and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease as well as disorders of the anterior segment. Dr. Goldberg is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association. She also speaks Spanish.

 Dr. Kassoff earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2021. While there, she was awarded several academic scholarships and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She completed her residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the New England College of Optometry in 2022. This residency included clinical rotations through well-renowned sites such as BostonSight, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Kassoff provides comprehensive primary eye care along with assessment and management of ocular conditions that include, but are not limited to, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and anterior segment diseases such as ocular surface disease.

Her residency gave her extensive clinical training in fitting specialty contact lenses for severe dry eye disease, post-surgery, post-trauma, aphakia, and corneal diseases such as keratoconus. Dr. Kassoff has experience with soft contact lenses, including multifocals, rigid gas permeable contact lenses, and scleral contact lenses. She also performs routine contact lens fittings.
